13 – 17 January 2016 – Joshua Tree National Park

Finally we got somewhere nice! The sky is at least mostly blue, and the desert is just the right temperature, as long as we pull out the propane fireplace. I resisted buying one for a long time, but is very useful in places like this where wood is hard to come by.

We generally just hung around the campsite and drove the roads. We met a lovely young man at the next campsite who was taking a month off to visit some big parks. He even watched a movie with us one night (it gets dark early there!).

We went to the Palm Springs and the Salton Sea one day, just to do some sightseeing. Living next to the Great Salt Lake in Utah, I was interested in seeing another salt lake, but I was quite disappointed. It was very low with lots of mud flats. The GSL is much nicer. I didn’t take any pictures.
